is Public Liability Insurance?
Public Liability Insurance (PL) covers you for any damages or injuries
that a member of the public inccurs as a result of your property
or your business. It also covers legal fees and other expenses to
do with a claim.
Examples
of when Public Liability Insurance would cover:
1)
You are an electrician on a rewiring job at someones house.
Due to some faulty wiring on your part, a fire starts and causes
damage throughout the lounge. The client sues you for damages to
their carpets, curtains and suite.
2)
You have a businessman with a small office. A client visits
and trips over a piece of carpet that has not been put down properly.
In the fall he twists his knee and makes a claim against the company
for the injury he has suffered.
3)
You are a courier delivering some boxes and leave one outside
your van on the pavement. A member of the public walks by and trips
over the box, injuring themselves. The pedestrian makes a claim
against your firm for damages.
